Alpbacher Bergbauernmuseum (Farmhouse Museum)
Looking down on the small Inneralpbach church a few hundred metres above Inneralpbach at the edge of the woods is the "Vorder-Unterberg" farm. It took local carpenters two years (1636 to 1638) to build and it was inhabited up to 1952.
The animals in the cowshed don’t seem to care that they are the sole inhabitants. They have plenty of visitors – predominantly humans, sometimes the odd fox – which scares the chickens out of their wits. Today I have decided to pay the museum a visit and say hello to the cows, “museum chickens” and lively pigs.
Approximately 800 pieces of furniture and items of practical use are on view and show you how the Alpbach Valley forefathers, the „Altvorderen“ lived“.
