The Alpbachtal is a hikers paradise. Between rugged mountain tops and lovely grass hills, 30 huts cater to the hungry and thirsty.
A special tip in autumn is a hike to the sunny Voldöpper Spitze peak. The 1,506m high mountain promises unique views over the Rofan Range and an unforgettable mountain top experience. In general, in autumn the approach from Kramsach is mostly snow-free. The trail leading from Brandenberg often has snow lying on the ground. Therefore, in autumn we commend the slightly longer ascent from Kramsach as it is more exposed to the sun!
The loop tour to the Farmkehralm in Alpbach is a hikers pure alpine delight. The rustic hut in the Greiter Valley is easily reached along the Jagdsteig in 1,5 hours. An alternative is the Breitenbacher Almenwanderung - a long, but still very sunny autumnal loop tour passing alpine pastures and providing magnificent views.
Those who prefer shorter tours and walks in autumn are spoilt for choice in the Alpbachtal:
The easy hike to the natures jewel - Lake Berglstein - is a perfect tour for the whole family and is ideal for inbetween seasons. Highlights are the Easy Learning Path, the mystical atmosphere on the lake and more. A walk in the Matzen Castle park is impressive and full of variety. This picturesque park is one of the most beautiful and most valuable cultural landscapes in the Tyrol.
The popular Alpbach Nature & Heritage Trail leads along sunny tarils, offers exciting insights into the village's history and interesting facts about the flora and fauna. A must for every Alpbachtal holiday!
Hiking until late autumn
The two summer mountain lifts in the Alpbachtal take you up high the mountains. The mountain gondola lifts in Alpbach are open until 8th November. A gondola ride up the Wiedersbergerhorn in Alpbach offers fantastic mountain panoramic views and the hike up to the peak is a mere 45 minutes. On the Reither Kogel, which can also be reached by the summer mountain lift, a family-friendly looped hiking trail awaits visitors.
