Rattenberg castle ruins (Schlossberg)
Great views over Rattenberg and the Inn Valley
The old castle was situated on the plateau above of Rattenberg. Unfortunately only ruins are left of this once splendid building. Only the "Bienerturm" tower, which got its name from chancellor Biener who was beheaded there, is quite well preserved.
The tower can be reached in 5 minutes on foot and affords fantastic views of Rattenberg.
- from the P1 car park in Rattenberg follow the signs "Zum Schlossberg"at the small underpass. Approx. 400 m and ten to 15 minutes walk to the Schlossberg.
- in the town centre at the restaurant and events centre Malerwinkel take the lift to the roof top terrace. An approx. five minute wlak brings one to the Schlossberg.
- from the Eastern end of town (train station, P4 or P5 car park take the path immedaitely after the train track underpass; approx. 200 m and 10 minutes walk to the Schlossberg.
