North Ridge with a Climbing Section
A short but rewarding summit hike featuring an optional climbing section on the North Ridge of the Wiedersberger Horn, with spectacular panoramic views.
The trail first passes the "Gateway to the Alpbachtal" – a freestanding wooden door set in the middle of an alpine meadow. Step through it to enjoy a stunning view of the Alpbachtal and the Kitzbühel Alps. It's one of the area's most popular photo spots.
From here, continue along the direct route to the summit via the North Ridge. In the upper section, you'll encounter a short climbing passage that requires sure-footedness, a head for heights and alpine experience. If you prefer to avoid the scramble, a clearly marked alternative trail bypasses this section.
After reaching the 2,127-metre summit, you'll be rewarded with magnificent panoramic views over the Alpbachtal and the surrounding mountains. Don't forget to sign the summit register before returning along the same trail.
After your hike, the Dauerstoaalm and the Hornboden Mountain Inn, both located near the top station, are perfect places to relax and enjoy local Tyrolean cuisine. If you're staying in the region, the Alpbachtal Card includes free rides on the Wiedersberger Horn gondola.
