Ridge hike to Standkopf 2,241 m
Three-summit hike through an alpine mountain landscape featuring a scenic ridge trail, three summits, breathtaking panoramic views, and a picturesque mountain lake.
Three summits, spectacular ridge walking and unforgettable mountain scenery – this challenging alpine hike is a true highlight for experienced hikers.
The tour begins with a comfortable ride on the Wiedersbergerhorn Cable Car to the mountain station at around 1,850 metres above sea level. From there, the panoramic trail gently ascends across the Alpbach side of the mountain towards the Hornalm. The route then follows the scenic ridge southwards, offering magnificent views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.
The first summit of the day is the Hochstand (2,058 m). Continuing along the ridge with only minor elevation changes, the trail leads through an impressive alpine landscape towards the Standkopf (2,243 m), the highest point of the tour. Shortly before reaching the summit, a final ascent rewards hikers with breathtaking panoramic views. Just below the Standkopf lies a beautiful mountain lake, an idyllic spot to pause and soak in the peaceful surroundings.
The return journey follows the same route back to the Hornalm. From there, a steep ascent along the southern ridge leads to the third summit, the Wiedersberger Horn (2,127 m). At the summit cross, enjoy sweeping views across the Kitzbühel Alps and the Inn Valley before descending to the mountain station.
For a shorter alternative, hikers can return from the Hornalm via the panoramic trail and skip the ascent to the Wiedersberger Horn.
Highlights: Three summits – Hochstand, Standkopf and Wiedersberger Horn – scenic ridge walking, breathtaking alpine panoramas and a picturesque mountain lake below the Standkopf.
Important: The descent is by the Wiedersbergerhorn Cable Car. Please check the current operating hours before setting out.
