Roßkogel 1,948 m via Anderl's Hut

How about a summit that lays the entire Inn Valley at your feet? The hike up the Roßkogel combines leisurely alpine pasture trails, rustic mountain huts and a view that's worth every metre of ascent.

You'll pass beautiful alpine pastures, some of them serving food and drinks, and reach the summit of the Roßkogel after about three hours. At the top, a panorama over the Inn Valley and the surrounding mountain ranges awaits you. If you still have some energy left, the detour to Lake Zirein (Zireiner See) is well worth it: the crystal-clear mountain water is the perfect place to catch your breath.

Route description: From the village district of Aschau, drive to the "Wimm" car park, where your hike begins. Partly along forest roads, the trail first leads to the Eilalm and on to Anderl's Hütte, where you can stop for refreshments. Via Labegg, you reach the Kreuzein Hochleger. From here it gets a little steeper as the path climbs to the foot of the Roßkogel. At the junction with the many yellow signposts, keep left and take the short climb to the summit (approx. 3 hrs).

Enjoy the view and take a well-earned break. Afterwards, the detour to Lake Zirein is highly recommended: follow the signs at the summit, descend to the trail junction and continue straight ahead. You'll reach the lake in about 30 minutes. Return via the ascent route (approx. 3 hrs).

Circular hike option: From the summit, descend westwards to the Berghaus Sonnwendjoch. From there, the trail drops steeply to the Hochalm, then climbs gently and leads around the ridge via the "Hörndl" to the Kreuzeinalm, which you already know from your ascent. Follow the familiar ascent route for the rest of the way back to the starting point (approx. 3 hrs from the Roßkogel).
