Hiking through the amazing gorge in the alpbachtal

Tiefenbach Gorge (Tiefenbachklamm)

Impressive hiking tour through the gorge

Descpription of the Tiefenbach Gorge starting from Kramsach

The entrance to the gorge is approx. 3,5 km after the Sonnwendjochbahn on the right hand side of the road leading to Aschau /Brandenberg. The beginning of the well secured walk leads alongside the stream through woodland and narrows after a short stretch. For most of the walk the path (stone, gravel) leads high above the gushing Brandenberg stream. The bizarre rock formations are awe-inspiring. After approx. 1,5 km one reaches the observation platform an ideal spot to take in the breath-taking views. Looking down into the gorge one can see the waters forcing themselves through the narrow rocks. The path continues crossing the stream on three occasions. Looking down from the bridges one can often catch a glimpse of canoes making their way downstream. The end of the approx. 4 km path leads to a meadow and to the Jausenstation Tiefenbachklamm

Walking time: approx. 1,5 hours. To get back take the same way or you can continue the hike towards the Jausenstation Stegerstall (further 20 minutes). Back from the Jst. Stegerstall by bus.

Parking and walking through the gorge are free of charge!
