The chapel is dedicated Anthony the Great
Anthony the Great is also known as the Father of All Monks. His feast day is celebrated on 17 January among the Orthodox and Catholic churches. Münster was also ravaged by a plague epidemic, which is commemorated by a plague column (renovated in 1984) at the Anthony the Great Chapel near Hagau.
He is is regarded as the heavenly advocate for animals, skin diseases, farmers, butchers, basket makers, brushmakers and gravediggers.
