Top of Alpbachtal

Looking for stunning mountain views without tackling many vertical metres? Then the hike to the “Top of Alpbachtal” is the perfect choice. Take the Wiedersbergerhorn cable car up to around 1,800 metres above sea level and start this easy out-and-back walk directly from the mountain station. The route follows well-maintained paths and is ideal for families with children.

One of the first highlights is the “Gateway to Alpbachtal”, an artistic wooden door that frames spectacular views of the surrounding mountain landscape and makes a wonderful photo spot.

The trail then continues along a scenic panoramic path with several inviting benches where you can relax and soak up the views. Throughout the hike, breathtaking vistas of the Kitzbühel Alps accompany you.

After around 45 minutes, you reach the Hornalm mountain hut at the foot of the Wiedersberger Horn. Right next to it stands the destination of the hike: the “Top of Alpbachtal” viewing tower. Rising 13 metres high, this impressive wooden structure is clad in handcrafted shingles and blends beautifully into its alpine surroundings. Step onto the panoramic terrace or admire the scenery through the large glass fronts and enjoy a spectacular 360° view across the mountains.

Return along the same route. For refreshments, the Berggasthof Hornboden and the Dauerstoa Alm near the mountain station are excellent options. If you still have energy left, finish your day with a ride on the Alpine Coaster “Lauser-Sauser”, located right beside the mountain station.
