Favourite places

Are you travelling with your family? Well that's good because the Wiedersberger Horn is a real highlight for all ages and one of our favourite spots. It is one of the few peaks that can be climbed with young children in order to then enjoy the unique mountain panorama from the summit cross. But that's not all: back at the top station the Lauserland children’s mountain top adventure playground is waitng to be explored.

Those more drawn towards nature will of course find ideal showpieces. To really switch off and unwind we recommend Lake Zirein – a remarkable natural highlight in the rugged Rofan Range with a panorama to "bow down" before and relax at.

Discover cultural highlights & traditions

Would you like to get to know the region and its people better? Then you've come to the right place, because there is plenty to explore in the ten villages of the Alpbachtal. Take the Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses, for example, which invites you to embark on a journey into the region’s past. On a leisurely walk through the largest open-air museum in the Tyrol you experience first-hand how the farmers lived back then. There is also an exciting children's programme and a quiz rally, promising fun for the whole family.

From the most beautiful village to the smallest town in Austria: Alpbach is a highlight of any visit due to its unique architecture. The impressive wooden building style characterises the picturesque landscape, while the surrounding mountains complete the gorgeous setting.

Another attraction is the town of Rattenberg, situated on the Inn River. Austria’s smallest town is particularly well-known for its medieval centre and can even be admired from above – from Tyrol’s only accessible church tower.

Culinary delights

You guessed it: the Alpbachtal offers everything you could possibly desire in culinary terms too, of course. From award-winning cuisine to traditional home cooking and local specialities, there is plenty to be tasted here.

Numerous farm shops offer regional goods such as sausage, speck, eggs, dairy products, honey and jams to take away straight from the farm. Locally brewed schnapps is a must after mealtimes here, but be warned: it’s not just delicious, but can also have a certain effect.
