Lake Berglstein - Leichter Lernen Wanderweg
Ideal hiking route for the whole family to natures jewel, Lake Berglstein.
Start off from the Lake Reintal car park east (Regiobus-car park peninsula) and follow the signs for the "Leichter-Lernen-Wanderweg" (Easy Learning Trail) uphill to Lake Berglstein, one of nature’s jewels. Along the route 12 boards suggest exercises to improve learning and concentration abilities for all ages (Kinesiology). The lake is surrounded by deciduous forest and is at the centre of many legends. A loop path with several spots for having a pause leads around the lake. Take the dirt track downhill to the starting point.
Have a bite to eat or something to drink at the Berglsteinersee 712er Lounge restaurant. Other venues providing food and drinks can be found around Lake Reintal.
Author’s recommendation
Children find hiking all the more exciting when accompanied by a great story! According to the legend petrified lovers are united in the lake. Once upon a time, a lady of the manor fell in love with a poor hunter. The lord of the castle was displeased and set dogs loose on the boy. He fell into the lake and drowned. When the girl heard about it, she threw herself into the water where the pair of lovers can now be seen as two small islands.
Safety guidelines
The trail to the Berglsteinersee lake is on a forest path that is suitable for prams, but somewhat steep for pushchairs. Circumnavigating the lake on the root-rich forest path is only partially recommended with prams.
