Mehrn - St. Bartholomäus fillial church
The parish church dedicated to Saint Bartholomew is located on a small rocky outcrop not far from the Alpbach.
The exact origins of the church are shrouded in the mists of history. A first church likely emerged in the 11th/12th century. It remained limited in size, which is why it was expanded in the late 14th to early 15th century. Its present appearance is the result of a more recent expansion starting in 1661.
Inside, the church has largely preserved its Baroque furnishings since its consecration in 1698. The high altar features a painting by Michael Waginger, depicting Saint Bartholomew among the Fourteen Holy Helpers as well as the apostles Matthew and Matthias. The accompanying figures are the work of Michael Mayr.
