Harvest Festival at the Museum of Tyrolean Farmhouses

Every year on the last Sunday in September, a celebration takes place at the Tiroler Bauernhöfe Museum in Kramsach. With thousands of visitors, the event is one of the largest traditional events in Tyrol.

The church festival (also known as Kirtag, Kirmes, or Kirchweih) is held once a year, originally on the anniversary of the church consecration, which could also be the feast day of the church patron; it was later moved to autumn as a general village festival during harvest time.

The day begins with a field mass on the museum grounds, which is visited annually by numerous guests as well as locals. The service is musically framed by music bands and choirs. Afterwards, music or singing takes place in each courtyard.

Traditional craftsmanship is very popular among the guests. Among other things, blacksmithing (farrier work), basket weaving, and embroidery are showcased.

Of course, there is excellent food and drink provided at the church festival. In each courtyard, special homemade dishes (e.g. Kasspatzln, Kirchtagskrapfen,...) from the respective region are prepared.

Followed by the official opening ceremony of the church festival. 

After the opening ceremony, the colorful church festival activities begin with concerts by the music bands, the alphorn players from Angath, and demonstrations of traditional craftsmanship techniques. In the courtyards, there will be folk music, singing, and various Tyrolean delicacies.

Admission: € 13.00 per person (children up to 15 years free!)

Museum members have free admission upon presentation of their membership card. The proceeds support the maintenance of the museum objects in the Tiroler Bauernhöfe Museum. 

The event will take place regardless of weather conditions, so there may be weather-related restrictions. Subject to change!
