The festive activities in Reith im Alpbachtal begin at 10:00 AM with the procession of the music band and a concert in the square. Along the delicacies and craftsmen's street, farmers will spoil you with regional specialties, and numerous craftsmen will provide insights into their traditional craftsmanship. From shingle making, feather quilting, and nearly forgotten crafts like lace-making and hat-making to soap-making, you will gain impressive insights into old agricultural traditions.
From 12:00 PM, the first cows will trot through the center of Reith im Alpbachtal. The plump beauties never fail to delight the spectators, as the Reither farmers adorn their cows with magnificent ribbons, colorful head signs, and joyfully ringing bells.
While waiting for the next returnees, wandering alphorn players, "Goasslschnalzer," and numerous Tyrolean folk music groups will provide entertainment. There are catering stands everywhere tempting you with true delicacies. And at the large farmers' and delicacy market, local farmers offer genuine specialties such as Breitenbacher fruit, Kiachl, Krapfen, and various delicious items from grandma's garden. Even though the festival takes place over two Saturdays, not a single returning cow will be admired twice here.
For groups of 20 or more, there is the possibility to purchase discounted tickets for the cattle drive in advance. Please register in writing at reith@alpbachtal.at.
