The Brandenberg Valley is interspersed with a wild romantic labyrinth of steep and deep gorges and valleys. Up until several decades ago the area was sparsely developed. This gave opportunity to area to retain a unique fauna and flora. As far, as is currently known over 800 different butterfly species can be found! Discover for yourself the Brandenberg butterflies, their beauty, lightness and their natural habitat!
The scenic loop trail starts at the Gasthof Kaiserhaus in Brandenberg and leads through the Oberen Kaiserboden, the Brandalm and the Weißach estuary butterfly habitats. The route back is along secured paths through the impressive Kaiser Gorge or along the forest track. For a shorter route, one can walk back from the "Trauersteg", but misses out on a particularly pretty area where the Weißache (stream) joins the Brandenberg River.
Tip:
Take the useful "Brandenberg Valley of Butterflies" folder with you! The folder is full of useful information about the butterflies' habitat and the surrounding flora.

Please be quiet - butterflies and wildlife are shy
To protect wildlife - please keep dogs on the lead at all times
Please stay on the marked trails - so as not to damage protected flora
• Take your rubbish with you! Do not litter!
• In part the trails lead through meadows past grazing cattle - please behave appropriately
